The Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV) technique is a sophisticated image-based approach for assessing velocity distributions on water surfaces. Its applications have been increasingly adopted in both field and laboratory settings, serving as a valuable, non-intrusive alternative to traditional velocimetry methods through the use of standard imaging devices and advanced image processing algorithms. This application leverages the capabilities of a smartphone to execute LSPIV, ingeniously integrating its built-in sensors to enable the real-time, intrinsic ortho-rectification of captured images without reliance on ground control points (GCPs).
